Viparis, François Schuiten, Nicolas Adam: Architectural Photography of CNIT Forest
Photo report at CNIT Forest in Paris La Défense, a project by Nicolas Adam and François Schuiten for Viparis combining digital trees, wood and technology.
1958, remade as a digital forest
Discover the metamorphosis of the CNIT, the first iconic building of La Défense. Built in 1958 by Nicolas Esquilan, the CNIT is not only a listed architectural masterpiece, but also a witness to the evolution of this business district.
Since 2015, Viparis’s spaces at the CNIT had been closed due to the construction of the new Eole station at La Défense. However, Viparis saw this opportunity as the starting point for a remarkable transformation. The result: CNIT Forest, a brand-new venue scheduled to open in September 2023 in Paris La Défense.
Architect Nicolas Adam and visionary artist François Schuiten collaborated to create CNIT Forest, an underground forest of impressive digital trees. These trees, made up of thousands of LEDs, offer an infinite palette of lighting variations, making it possible to personalise each space and create unique experiences for every event.
The ambition of CNIT Forest is to reconcile nature with contemporary technology. This innovative venue relies on the use of natural, noble materials such as wood to create an exceptional harmony between nature and technological progress.
