UnBUILT – A Photorealistic Exploration of Forgotten Architectural Monuments Through AI

UnBUILT uses AI to recreate photorealistic visions of unbuilt monuments: the Chicago Tribune column of 1922, Le Corbusier's Plan Voisin and the X-Seed 4000.

UnBUILT – A Photorealistic Exploration of Forgotten Architectural Monuments Through AI

For decades, certain architectural projects have captured the imagination with their boldness and futuristic vision, yet many never moved beyond the conceptual stage. The UnBUILT project was born from the desire to bring these forgotten icons back to life and imagine the world as it could have been had they been built. By using advanced AI-assisted photorealistic rendering techniques, UnBUILT visually recreates projects that remained in the shadows of history. Today, I invite you to discover the first three realizations of this series: the Chicago Tribune Headquarters (1922), the Plan Voisin, and the X-Seed 4000.

These reconstructions extend my author’s eye on built architecture.

What is UnBUILT?

UnBUILT is an artistic project dedicated to the visual reinvention of unbuilt architecture. Using original plans and period drawings, I leverage artificial intelligence to bring to life fascinating and iconic structures. The goal of UnBUILT is to offer an immersive journey into an alternate world where these visionary buildings integrate seamlessly into contemporary landscapes, blending the architectural utopias of the past with today’s reality. Each visual in UnBUILT is a tribute to the creative boldness and unfinished dreams of their architects.

For Architects and Urban Planning Agencies

For architects, urban planners, and communication agencies, UnBUILT is more than a tribute to the past. It is a visual reflection on the impact of alternative architectural solutions, a source of inspiration for new projects, and an exploration of bold conceptual design in architecture. This project serves as a visual reference for those seeking original and innovative ideas while questioning the boundaries of sustainable architecture and contemporary urban planning.

The First Works of UnBUILT

Chicago Tribune Headquarters (1922) – Inspired by the bold design of Adolf Loos, this monumental building, shaped like a Doric column, was meant to symbolize classicism at the heart of modern urbanism. Using AI, I have reintegrated this structure into today’s Chicago skyline, offering a striking vision of this unfinished masterpiece.

The Plan Voisin – In the 1920s, Le Corbusier envisioned a radical redesign of Paris, featuring skyscrapers and vast green spaces. UnBUILT brings this vision to life by integrating his architectural structures into modern-day Paris, offering a fascinating alternative to the city we know today.

X-Seed 4000 – Designed in Japan, this 4,000-meter skyscraper was envisioned as a megastructure inspired by Mount Fuji, capable of housing up to one million people. Through UnBUILT, I offer an immersive glimpse into this spectacular vision of what the urban landscape could have become.

An Invitation to Discover Imagined Architecture

UnBUILT goes beyond resurrecting buildings; it explores the potential of architecture and questions the role of built spaces in our lives. By combining original drawings with AI, each creation is an invitation to reflect on what architecture can contribute to our world.
