Architectural Photographer for Gentofte Municipal Library – In Collaboration with Henning Larsen
The Gentofte Municipal Library, designed by the renowned architectural firm Henning Larsen, is more than just a place for reading. This modern building embodies the idea of a library as a cultural, social, and educational center open to the local community. Located in the heart of Gentofte, the library combines functionality with aesthetics, featuring spacious, light-filled areas and an architectural design that encourages a connection between users and the surrounding environment.
This architectural project stands out with its clean lines, large glass facades that flood the space with natural light, and the use of sustainable materials that harmonize perfectly with the urban surroundings. Working on this project allowed me to explore the interplay of transparency and light, while highlighting the modern and open architecture of the library.
This photographic series is part of an ongoing collaboration with Henning Larsen, through which I have had the opportunity to document several of their major architectural works across Denmark. For the Gentofte Library, the goal was to capture the spirit of openness and sharing that this space reflects. Each photograph emphasizes how the architecture fosters interaction and community engagement, while showcasing the understated elegance of its lines and the fluidity of its spaces.
The Gentofte Municipal Library is an excellent example of how Henning Larsen successfully combined functional design with modern aesthetics to create a space that invites discovery, sharing, and reflection. As a photographer, my work was to reveal these architectural subtleties, capturing both the beauty of the space and its central role within the community.
